Synopsis : After a great war raged, the world is beset total destruction. Everywhere there was only debris- ruins of former buildings and people were forced to back to the beginning of civilization to rebuild civilization that has their own ruin this. Wrong one of the few people who survived the war is Eli (Denzel Washington).
Lost everything he had, Eli later became wandering from one place to another only to survive. One time, Eli is in journey to find that his iPod battery runs out power. Not far from where Eli, there is a city apparently controlled by the Carnegie (Gary Oldman).

Eli was originally only meant to stop a moment in the city it to recharge its batteries and went on iPod journey. Unfortunately Eli unexpectedly, there something from him who wants owned by the Carnegie that controls the city. That said, Eli brought a book which became the key to restore civilization that has devastated by war. Carnegie intends get the book for its own interests and he not include people who could accept the word 'NO'.
